Random thoughts

Life has entered a cruising mode for some time. It is like a drive on a long drive free way where my cruise control is set for 70 km and no lane change required for another three hours… So I mean no surprises… But the side walks looked boring … Then I started thinking about what would make me happy … The little things that bring happiness to me? I have heard that a beer and a full stomach food is enough to make any guy happy but I thought about it for a while and started counting them. There were very less things that made me happy. I am talking about day to day small things …. Like

A good morning message / mail from some one so forgotten

A smile or ‘U made my day’ from a total stranger

A good ‘checking out’ look from a pretty a gal over the walk way while jogging

A smile from a kid any time any where … Just a smile

A phone call from some one, calling up to talk about nothing, but just ‘what’s up’ ?

A forgotten coin in a trouser taken for washing

A lucky snap of an early morning sun

A comment on my ‘blog’ for a long forgotten post, from some stranger who stumbled on it.

When rushing to bus stop late, the sight of all my co traveler waiting for the bus which is a coupe of minutes late

Some ‘take care’ messages from long forgotten people
A good swim for about an hour on a humid summer day
An exciting gully cricket game where anything would be possible

A cup of cold coffee in fridge after a long walk

A ‘Nice food’ gesture from any one unfortunate to eat my kitchen experiments with boiled vegetables and the array of masalas’ which were put to test

These are very small things which make earth a better place to live.

I would pass on this as a tag to anyone who happens to read this blog. Just list down things which makes you happy … small but there are things which makes our day!

DejaVu!!!

This is going to be really absurd, but still I feel like putting it in words

I was feeling too thirsty in the middle of the night; blame it on our heater or on bad weather. We ran out of water stock for two days now. I went for a refrigerator raid; all I could find was a can of diet coke in the midst of beers and drinks. Came back with it, opened the can. Some how I felt like drinking it while lying down. I drank the coke and slowly …. No I was angry at that moment. With my mom! She does not have time to talk to me. Why? She didn’t even know that I am angry. She is too busy talking to some one. I left the room. The road I walked from my childhood seemed different. It is a stormy kind of night. Just the atmosphere waiting for rain! A cool breeze dwindling away! Felt like running into the breeze. The walk way was un-naturally straight. I started swift walking which changed into frantic running with in moments. Into woods into the breeze I ran with all my energy.
I didn’t know were I am running into, a territory which I never ever be footed. It is all greenery every where, too much of greenery. Lot of trees but the way to walk is clear. There were lots of creepers from woods hanging touching the ground. I checked couple of them; they are strong but still green. I kept on walking. It looks like an ancient place. There I saw a stepped walk –way, steps down to an ally. Steps made with old granite, looked like made in last generation. I went down the steps. I ended up the ally looking at a huge structure. The structure looked like an old fort or may be an ancient temple. But nothing of sort I have seen in my life. Rounded headed entrance with no doors. I felt a bit scared, but went on. The open stone door lead me to a corridor, a wide stone structured corridor. I could feel moisture in the atmosphere with a lot of old green algae everywhere on the wall. Some where water is dripping; I could hear the sound, but very far. I heard a woozing sound, some thing like a bee. The sound gradually increased. The wall in front of me looked like an opening to the next level, but a little too high to climb. I stared in the direction of the sound.
It was like a flying scissor, but I didn’t get enough time to analyze the structure. Some thing from my mind told me to run. I left sprinting to my left around the round surfaced wall. The flying thing followed me. I didn’t see how close it was, but the woozing sound was gaining on me …very fast. The front opening I earlier saw on the stone wall looked climbable now. I ran all across the round structure once to get back to the place where I saw the opening and I jumped in to the next story. It was some thing like a coniferous structure with a lot of algae over it, but built of old huge stones. The flying thing which was round in shape was little big to enter into the opening, but the sound changed rite behind me. I felt like it is trying to cut open the stone. I kept on climbing up frantically round the cone. I don’t know how many I climbed, but reached the summit of the building. Through a small opening I reached the dome. It was some thing like a 30 meter diameter dome. Again stony structure. The tress with creepers were dangling over the huge structure all around the dome. Some thing told me that I do not have much time. I ran towards the dome edge and jumped over a tree. The dome was again slippery, wet. I almost fell down but got grip on one of the creeper, strayed my self up. Reached the tree top, held my birth and watched the dome head with horror. With in seconds the whole circle dome collapsed and a stream of flying things came out. This time I had a better look. It is being flown by some thing. It has the outer look of an old wet grinder and the top part looks like a water scooter. The sound is produced by some saw blade tooth in circle form which makes it float. I think the same blades where used to cut through the stone wall.
There were three of them, with the last one being the biggest. It flied around the dome for a couple of minutes, but they couldn’t find me on the tree top. The algae on the wall had made me almost green and I was on camouflage in the tree top. The woozing thing disappeared back into the building. I started to think, where am I….?I heard some foot steps on the first path way which was visible by now from the tree top. There was a group of ppl dressed like native Indians, say ppl who were on the movie Apocalypto. I slowly went down. I could make out, they were praying the fire for some thing. I could make out, it was some thing like gratitude to a field which gave them rice. I tried to join them but no one noticed me! With in moments, there was a thud sound from some where. The natives gathered their stuff and disappeared into the woods. Most of them climbed the dangling trees and they where gone. I looked for some thing to defend myself, in case it was the flying thing. I slowly walked behind the stone building, to see the source of the sound. The ground was again going steep, but there were stoned steps. I walked up slowly … Found a big statue. Looked like a human face, but so big that I could clime on it and I could stand on its hair. I tried to hide myself in the statue. As there was some sort of sound coming. I held my breath and waited. With in a moment a helicopter appeared right next to me. The pilot was looking for something but strangely, there was no sound. A very small air chiseling sound was there when the copter turned around and the tail rotor almost hit the statue. But again the pilot looked very much scared and he was constantly searching the ground with his thumb on fire arm. Then I heard foot steps again. This time it was a group of proper American soldiers
They all looked scared. They were trying to be very silent even with their foot steps. Following them there was a plane, an ATR model one, which was pulled and pushed using the tree creepers. They where headed a little west of the statue, going towards the valley. Suddenly, that thud again, this time, every soldier started to run. The thud was repeating and approaching towards the group. I stood still on the statue, making sure neither the soldiers nor the thing that might be causing the thud will notice me. Many of the soldiers left the plane but some made sure that, it reaches the slope and got in. It rolled down to the valley …I held my breath and waited to see the source of thud. But nothing came. I sat there for a while. After some time, I gathered courage and came down. Slowly came out into the open ground and checked the place. It looked like no mans land in an old map. A way which is dividing two countries! Both sides looked like old tribe hide outs but nothing concrete to see. The breeze stared again, and I started walking towards the breeze …after a while I again started running, this time I struggled to keep my eyes open …the breeze was changing to a storm, I tried to cover my face with hands while running. Some thing fell on the face. I took it off the face and opened my eyes.
I was lying on my bed wet with my sweat. I was feeling awkwardly thirsty. Woke up and checked the refrigerator, saw the same can of coke still in the refrigerator among the beers! I thought for a moment, am I dreaming now? Or I dreamt earlier ……? I left the can and headed towards the bedroom to see what happens next!

Summer Vaccation

Last 51 days following by today, it feels like my good old school days. I am now at a new client place in a new state in US. Unlike the previous state, the current place is a laid back one. Lots of wide drive ways, full lush green lawns and it looks typically like the AMERICA I have seen in movies. I should consider myself lucky as I go with two mallu roomies.
I found it a little difficult to shift from the vacation mode to working mode, had been at home for last 51 days doing almost nothing other than mailing my managers saying, ‘I am available!’ It is not a good feeling to go out on a hunt for a project when you are in proper visa dead lock. Just go through the visa formalities for h1 b extension in h1 b, you will get to know what I am talking about. One of the highest rated assets which I added to my valet, my US driving license, is invalid now as it is expired! So much for the trips down to DMV! Still, will be visiting DMV in another state in us for some more adventures!

My new client had a lot of surprises for me. First and biggest surprise or better phrased ‘shock’ was my work timing is from morning 7 to evening 4! Think about working from morning 7 for a guy who was sleeping for more than 16 hours a day for last 51 days. Big ask rite? On the third day at my new client place, my client manager caught me napping in the QA lab. Thankfully she had a good sense of humor and asked me that I can try out the work out area if I want to keep myself fresh. Her advice was to come an hour early and work out, which will help me keep myself fresh! I had my sleep calculator inside my head screaming, complaining about cutting out one more hour from my precious sleep.

My lucky charm is still continuing with me breaking everything and every procedure I touch. The security team in the new place took three snaps of me (I was seriously thinking of smiling wildly for the third snap to make sure at least a white strip is visible in the snap) for my ID card. First, the camera broke, second day, the data cable didn’t work and third day the operating system itself crashed. After three attempts, I got my ID with my grin face on it, rite now hanging over my belt. After seeing my snap, a general realization, it is very important to smile in any snaps! Even in ID card snaps. If that was no enough, the client cubicle allocation system got disrupted when they tried to find a seat for me near to their team. Until now, client is fighting to find a place for me, but working from an office which is shopping complex-leased office where a walk from my current work place to my QA lab is about half a kilometer with three escalators and decoding of a stupid map, is fun! I got lost my way so many times in this building and still finding some lonely corridors which remind me of the grass maze shown in Harry potter movie. This place is scary at times.

I am moving away from the topic, the summer vacation is about the 51 days I spend doing nothing! I never thought it will have such a bad effect on my routine. For the last one week, I am literally struggling to keep me awake during day time. A bitter drink, chewing gum and music with full volume are my only weapons against a very strong urge to sleep. After three days, bitter drink tastes good. I preferred this drink which tasted the worst of the lott, to make sure it make my senses realize that I need to be awake. But senses are working in the exact opposite way by developing a likeness towards the drink!
By Indian terms , the summer is gone but here the summer is around the corner and every one is talking about their ‘schedules’ to see when they will work! Hopefully by that time they will find a proper work cubicle for me. Sitting on a temporary cubicle is pretty tough when my super – super boss is just two feet away from me! Now vacation is over and back to work. The biggest shock is blogger.com is blocked in client place!!!
